For the first time in the country’s socio-economic planning history, a full chapter on competition has been included in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022. Working towards the goal of achieving a more inclusive economic growth, the PDP sends a clear signal that the promotion and enhancement of market competition is a national priority.

In support of the PDP 2017-2022 and through the Philippine Competition Act (PCA), the formulation of a National Competition Policy (NCP) provides a guiding framework for competition for all government regulations and administrative procedures, and a catalyst for the effective enforcement of antitrust laws in the country. Being the country’s watchdog against anti-competitive practices, the PCC takes the lead in establishing a culture of competition to fully achieve the benefits of an effective NCP.
