PRESS RELEASE 2017-008
March 21, 2017
The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC), the country’s anti-trust body, organizes a series of public fora for groups representing consumers and businesses to learn about the Philippine Competition Act (PCA).
Each public forum invites consumer groups, trade and business associations, micro-small-medium businesses, civil society organizations, and members of the business community. Given this “game-changer” law, the forum will allow the groups to gain awareness and insights on how the PCA will affect their operations.
The first forum is set for consumer-related concerns on 23 March 2017, Thursday, at Sulo Riviera Hotel, Quezon City. While business groups will be oriented on 24 March 2017, Friday in City Garden Grand Hotel, Makati City.
The forum brings together a high-level roster of PCC officials headed by the Chair of the Commission, Dr. Arsenio Balisacan, Commissioner Johannes Benjamin Bernabe, Commissioner Amabelle Asuncion, and Executive Director Gwen de Vera, among others.
Discussions will touch on the benefits of competition, how the PCC works, anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominant position. There will also be an open-forum which will serve as a platform for the PCC to engage its various stakeholders.
The event is free-of-charge but requires pre-registration. Interested parties may register at http://bit.ly/publicforum2324 on or before 22 March 2017.
